EWI Worldwide Acquires The TERM Group

Posted byKatie
We're pleased to announce this week that we have signed an agreement to acquire The Trade Event Resource Management (TERM) Group, which specializes in the installation and dismantling of displays for tradeshows and live events. The TERM Group, a premier labor management team in the industry, is best known for executing some of the largest and most detailed labor management calls in the nation.

We're not only excited to be formalizing this opportunity after successfully working with The TERM Group for over 10 years - we're also excited about what this partnership means for our clients. This strategic decision allows us to provide a streamlined process in executing your programs and more importantly, gives us greater control on the show floor.

For more details and information, the full press release announcing the acquisitino can be read here.

MIT shows us the possibilities of UI

Check out this article and video from Fast Co. Design on MIT Lab's solution, "MaKey MaKey," for making personalized UIs out of "any material that can conduct at least a tiny bit of electricity."

Even bananas.

Big Ideas from future Lions

Posted byEli
Brilliant! One of the more ambitious winning ideas at AKQA’s Future Lions Event is Quiksilver “Made By Waves.” Created by Patrik Beskow and David Lunde of Berghs School of Communication the idea revolves around creating energy from the very waves that surfers to power Quiksilver’s manufacturing. The environmentally-friendly solution would, in turn, help in stave off climate change, which threatens those very waves and marine ecosystem.

Join Us at HCEA

Posted byKatie
In just a few short days, we'll be heading down to Orlando, Florida to participate in the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association's (HCEA) Annual Meeting, held June 23-26. We're excited to go for a number of reasons. First - to meet all of the other healthcare marketers. We are an industry partner and proud supporter of the HCEA, active on its committees and looking forward to serving alongside our peers. We will be at the Community Outreach Project - supporting families and their children dealing with life threatening illness in a 70-acre village called Give Kids the World - and we'll be at the annual golf outing to help raise money for the same organization.

Second, while we're there, we'll not only be presenting a workshop on technology, but you can stop by and say hello at our booth, #618.

Andy Austin and Elisa Stokoe from EWI Worldwide will present "Hands On: Tech Possible" - session 3E at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 24 - which invites attendees to literally be hands on with the latest and greatest technology - so new, in fact, that some aren't even available to the public yet. We want to hear some of the smart questions attendees are asking of technology integration - such as how long it takes, how much it costs, how to make tech scalable and effective.  We'll share industry examples and give attendees an insider's view of programs from inception to execution.  For more, check out the program guide linked above. We'll be in Room W232AB.

At our booth, we'll be learning from attendees about what makes them tick, using a visual interpreter to document your story - alive - right there at the booth.

We'll be live-Tweeting and sharing images throughout, but to connect with us at the show, just drop us a line in the comments or contact us here.

Safe travels!

Using Technology to Surprise and Delight

Posted byKatie
While traveling through Detroit Metro Airport a few weeks ago, I was surprised to see people waving at an advertisement on the wall - and not just little kids, either. Pilots, road warriors and busy passersby all took a moment to either give a friendly wave or at least glance over at the ad.

When I got closer, only then did I realize that the ad was actually interacting with people - with the Travelers Insurance trademark red umbrella reacting to nearby movements by breaking into smaller umbrellas, and then reforming into one big umbrella. The accompanying slogan? "The strength to withstand anything."

What a clever way to demonstrate the brand's values - and having a little fun along the way... which was especially enjoyed by this gentleman.
